Cumbria Event - POSTPONED

VISIT TO SIZERGH CASTLE

The annual Cumbria activity will take place on Thursday 30th May (THIS HAS BEEN POSTPONED - PLEASE EMAIL IF INTERESTED) with a visit to Sizergh Castle, the ‘gateway’ to the Lake District.

Sizergh (sy-zer), an ancient Scandinavian name meaning ‘summer pasture or dairy farm’, has been in the Strickland family for over 700 years and the family continues to live there. Sizergh is known for its outstanding wood panelling and art collection; this year, a collection of letters by Cecilia Strickland is also featured.

The day will commence with coffee/tea at 10.30 am at a reserved table in the café.   A private guided tour of the house has been arranged for 11.20 am (cost of £1), followed by lunch in the café (individual choice and cost).  During the afternoon, we can return to the house or explore the extensive grounds (dog-friendly).   This is a National Trust property with free parking for NT members; entry costs and other details can be found here:  www.nationaltrust.org.uk/sizergh

Guild members, husbands, friends, family and guests are most welcome to come to this event. Please contact Carolyn Roberson on 015394 22348 or carolyn@carolynrobersonconsulting.co.uk by 20th May.
