Former Staff - Sept 20
We have received the sad news that two former members of staff, Miss Mary Sambrook and Miss Elizabeth 'Liz' Dendy, have died:
MISS MARY SAMBROOK
Former Teacher of English (from 1961-1996), died on Monday 24th August, aged 84.
I have been asked to pass on the funeral arrangements to any Guild and Honorary members who may have known her.
The funeral service will take place on Monday 21st September at 11.30am at Willow Chapel, Cheltenham Crematorium and then following afterwards at Ellenborough Park.
Due to Covid19 there is a restriction on attendee numbers, with a maximum of 30 allowed. If you would like to attend, please contact Linda Armitage via the Guild Office (guild@cheltladiescollege.org).

MISS ELIZABETH 'LIZ' DENDY OBE MBE
Former Head of PE (from 1959-1966), died on Saturday 28th August, aged 90.
She was a pupil at College between 1942-1948 boarding in St Margaret’s and St Bridget’s. In her last year she was:
Captain of the first tennis team
Captain of the first lacrosse team
In the first cricket team
In the first tennis team
PE College was a natural choice and she went to Bedford Physical Training College for her teacher training.
As well as being awarded an MBE and OBE, in 2001 she was one of the few people and the first woman to be awarded a Paralympic Order.
The Paralympic Order is the highest award of the Paralympic Movement, since 1994. The recipients get a medal with the IPC logo on it. The Paralympic Order is awarded to individuals for particularly distinguished contribution to the Paralympic Movement
