RACING REMEMBERS AT CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE
To mark the centenary of the Armistice, College took part in a tribute event at the Racecourse on Sunday 18th November, the final day of The November Meeting. The Centaur Centre featured displays from local and national organisations reflecting the contribution made by Gloucestershire and the racing community to the First World War.
College’s exhibitions included a recreation of a ward of our own St Martin’s Hospital, based in Parabola Road, and a display from the College Archive, demonstrating the impact of the war on the College community and the contribution that College staff and girls made during that period.
A small College choir, accompanied by Mr Hawley and Mr Parker, performed several times from the Centaur Stage throughout the day, singing beautiful renditions of classic songs of the time, which added to the evocative and nostalgic atmosphere in the room.
