Visit to V&A Dundee 22/03/19
V&A Dundee was the fantastic venue for the latest catch-up of Guild members now living in Scotland.
Taking place in late March, 11 of us, ranging in age from youthful 20-somethings to robust 80 year olds (and one very cute toddler!), enjoyed a guided tour of the Scottish Design Gallery, marvelling at an eclectic mix of design wonders originating north of the border.
From Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s original Oak Room and a stunning Alexander McQueen wedding dress to furniture, video game design and the incredible engineering behind the Falkirk Wheel, we left with valuable knowledge of Scotland’s wonderful design heritage - and its bright future.
The tour was followed by a delicious lunch in V&A Dundee’s Tatha Bar & Kitchen, during which many reminiscences and tales of ‘Coll’ unfolded.
All in all, a great afternoon and plans are already afoot for our next meet-up!
Many thanks to Angie Emler (nee James, 1975, St Helen’s and Eversleigh) for organising such a successful event.
