2021 GUILD REUNION - 04/12/21 POSTPONED
Regrettably, after discussions with the Guild Executive Committee and key personnel at CLC, we have made the decision to postpone the Guild Reunion on the 4th December due to lower numbers than expected.
We will now merge this reunion (2021) with next year’s delayed reunion (2020) scheduled for Saturday 5th February 2022. For those of you who can make this revised date we can move your booking forwards to February. Otherwise, we can arrange a full refund of your reunion ticket(s). Please email us to let us know what you would like to do.
The May Reunion will take place as usual for those who left in years 2 and 7 on Saturday 21st May 2022.
We are very much looking forward to seeing as many Guild members as possible during the next six months.
Sam Culhane (Ashworth, 1984, Farnley Lodge)
Chairman of Guild
We are looking forward to seeing you on 4th December. Currently numbers are fairly low, so if we do not see a significant increase in numbers we will combine this event with the next scheduled reunion on 5th February. We will review numbers and make a decision on Wednesday 17th November and will update the website accordingly.
Guild members are invited to a Winter Guild reunion in College (replacing the May 2021 reunion which was cancelled due to the pandemic).
We would like to invite those of you who left College in 2016, 2011, 2006, 2001, 1996, 1991, 1986, 1981, 1976, 1971, 1966, 1961, 1956, 1951, 1946 and every five years before that to join us in College to celebrate. Timings are included at the end of this message and you are welcome to attend all, or a part of the day.
Coffee and registration will be in the Parabola Arts Centre (PAC), followed by an opportunity to support the Guild vs College debate, which is being held for the first time during the Reunion Saturday in the Princess Hall. We have not yet appointed our Guild Debating Team so if you are interested in being part of the event do please get in touch with Caroline Harris in the Guild Office.
Lunch will be in the newly refurbished Bayshill Court Dining Room (BCDR). As usual, you will have the opportunity to meander around College, revisiting your old classrooms, the Library, Marble Corridor, Bunny Run... After lunch there will be opportunities to visit boarding houses, the new Health and Fitness Centre (HFC) and Field. Tea will be served in Bayshill Court Dining Room.
Please feel free to come along for all or part of the day – we will be very happy to see you. You can choose to attend all or any of these activities or simply meet up with friends and chat.
Further details and timings can be found below. If you would like to attend, tickets (priced £20 per head*) can be booked online by clicking here. Alternatively, please contact the Guild Office for a downloadable form to complete and return with a cheque.
Do please share these details with any of your contemporaries and encourage them to come! I look forward to welcoming you back to College in December.
Yours sincerely
Eve Jardine-Young
Principal and President of Guild
(1988-1990 Elizabeth)
ADDITIONAL REUNION INFORMATION
Beale Debate - Guild vs College
Launched in 2006, the Beale Debate is a competition between current girls in the Sixth Form and returning alumnae.
Previous debates in the Autumn Term of College have witnessed some passionate and incisive intellectual jousting and we hope for more of the same this year. This year we are holding it for the first time during a Reunion Saturday. It is a lovely event and I do encourage you to go and support your team.
We have not yet appointed our Guild Debating Team so if you are interested in being part of the event do please get in touch with Caroline Harris in the Guild Office.
New Health and Fitness Centre
This fabulous new facility has enabled College to improve greatly the sporting provision, providing more indoor space, better facilities and the opportunity to realise our vision of raising both participation and performance. Do please take the opportunity to look around the new facility which will be in action for matches on the day.
Covid Statement
College is adhering to government guidelines and the Department for Education’s recommendations for schools as part of our management of Covid. At present there are no Covid restrictions on this event, though College is well stocked with hand sanitiser dispensers and you are very welcome to socially distance or wear a mask if this makes you feel more comfortable. Please note that if the local or national situation changes, we will contact you as soon as possible with updated guidelines for attendance. Subject to guidance, these may involve lateral flow testing, social distancing, mask wearing or a need to limit numbers or change venues.
