Can you help the PGC?
For the past couple of years the Professional Guidance Centre (PGC) has been hosting events focusing on industries and professions. They have now decided to widen their vision to encourage students to consider a much broader range of options for their future careers. This new initiative, entitled “Those Who Dare”, needs help from Guild members with every sort of career to return to College to meet students and discuss their professions.
Our two events opened to the older students, took place on 18th November and 3rd March and were a real success. These are the words of one of the students who attended in November:
I think I speak for many when I say the evening was incredibly inspiring. Being able to hear someone's story in person is vastly different from reading it from a career pamphlet; even if we weren't particularly interested in taking on a specific career, there was something valuable to be gained from every conversation. My favourite piece of advice was "it's never too late, you just need to have the courage" - something that fit the motto "Those Who Dare" perfectly.
Their next events will be on:
Friday 19th May 2023 (4.30 pm to 6.00 pm)
On this occasion the event will start at 4.30 pm and finish at 6.00 pm allowing plenty of time for Guild members to get away to meet their year groups who might be in Cheltenham prior to the Reunion the next day.
June 2023 (Tea in HFC)
LC1 and LC2 Networking Tea
Do let us know if you or anyone you know would like to join us for any of those events. Please feel free to forward this to anyone interested and ask them to contact us. We are looking to have as wide a range of career paths as possible. Every job is interesting, and every person has valuable experiences for our students to know about.
If you would like further information or would be interested in helping please contact Tess Hampton (pgc@cheltladiescollege.org).
