AUTUMN MEETING
For those of us who arrived early at Cotswold Hills Golf Club for our Autumn meeting on the morning of Wednesday 22nd September, we did wonder whether we would actually get on to the first tee, the fog was so thick! However, the sun soon broke through and the fog disappeared so any fears were allayed!
Nine of us enjoyed this wonderful course and the club could not have been more welcoming. The course was in good condition and afterwards we had an enjoyable lunch.
From left to right:
Sarah Nannestad (Nutter), Caroline Dixon (May), Lorraine Morgan (Hughes), Pippa Lyons (Rundle), Mary Ann Turnbull (Colyer), Liz MacDonald (St Leger Carter), Meredith Christopher (Maby), Shirley Setchell (Amphlett Lewis) and Tam Wood (Thomas).
The winner of our competition was Mary Ann with 37 points, with nearest the pin going to the home girl, Shirley, and the straightest drive to Meredith. We also had a team competition (the teams were not drawn until after everyone had finished) and the team with the highest combined points (67 points) was Liz and Mary Ann so congratulations to them and all the other winners.
Looking ahead to 2022, after a two year gap due to COVID, we are delighted to be able to resume our annual match versus Sherborne Old Girls which next year will take place at South Winchester Golf Club on 31st March. On 23rd May we shall take part in The Silver Tassie (Independent Old Girls fourball better ball competition) and it would be good to enter two teams of four again as we did this year … or could we enter more? The location for next year’s Autumn meeting is yet to be decided but watch this space!
It would be good to see some new faces at our Golf matches (as well as our more familiar faces, of course!). We have almost 40 members, and are always looking for new members whatever your handicap, so if you enjoy playing golf and would like to play at some different courses, please contact Caroline Dixon (caroline.dixon56@btinternet.com).

CLC AT THE TASSIE
Once again, eight members of our society competed in the independent schools’ alumnae golf competition, The Silver Tassie, at The Berkshire Golf Club on 7th June 2021. This was our first meeting for some time due, of course, to the pandemic. Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, some of us travelled a distance to take part and formed two teams for the ‘four ball better ball’ competition. Alumnae from 20 schools were involved, with just three schools entering two teams. It was a successful day and much enjoyed by all, with one of our two teams coming third overall in the competition and furthermore Charlotte Clarke was one of the few to score a birdie ‘two’!
Our next event will form the Autumn Meeting at Cotswold Hills GC on 22nd September 2021. Please do contact Jane Evans (evansjtm@gmail.com) should you wish to join us at this event or our society – new members are, of course, always very welcome.
